Tough Times

Eric has been hearing rumors at work about layoffs since Wednesday. I told him, if it was me, I would ask my supervisor what was truth and what was rumor. Well, he did call on Thursday night and he got a call back this morning. He was laid off. They were planning on telling him when he got to work on Tuesday, so I'm glad that he did call and we found out before then. He has been on the phone all day looking for a job. Eric is good at getting right on the ball. He has a few leads, but he will be searching more next week. I've even picked up an application employment at Barnes and Noble. I just don't know what to do with little miss Keira. If I do have to work, I'm sure gonna miss spending all day with her. But you gotta do what you gotta do, especially to survive. We are not limiting ourselves to employment in this county...even this state. We will go where we need to go. Please keep us in your prayers.

And to top it all off, I read a statement about the leak of Stephenie Meyer's Midnight Sun rough draft. Here is the link to Stephenie's website and her statement: www.stepheniemeyer.com. She even posted a link to the rough draft. I'm torn to read it. I read up to chapter 3 last night then stopped. It just didn't feel right. Stephenie had mentioned that the project is on hold indefinitely. I was so sad because I was really looking forward to reading the finished, polished and published book. I'll just have to be patient and hope that she will finish it sooner or later. That was the cherry on top of today.

Hopefully we will be going up hill from here.

Gina, sorry to hear about the job. We will hope that you will be able to stay home with cute little Kiera. What does Eric do? Nathan works for Riverton City, maybe he could find something for him? Not sure?

That's a good question...he is a land surveyor who worked in the office and out in the field. He would like to stay in that field of work, but he is open to other options. Thanks for keeping an eye out!

Hi Gina:

That's not happy news about Eric's employment.

Hopefully, come the end of this year, a new party in power, with fresh blood and an interest in rebuilding America after 8 years, instead of bombing the world, will change things. And help get our tired system (out with Bush's poodles!) working again.

But ... have you ever thought about going to, say, China, to teach English for a few years? NOT in any LDS capacity. You wouldn't need to speak Chinese. People from here with small, young families are doing that sort of thing. People go to Japan as well, but you might prefer something more rural, a simpler way of life?

Think about it.
